Assembly & Setup Guides

Quick-Start Setup Guides:

Downloadable PDFs are available below for each bike model and our "Bike Tune Up & Safety Checklist" to help you ensure everything is secure. We even have a "Kids Edition worksheet" to make it a fun activity for your tiny tot!

Assembly Video Tutorials:

Explore the accordions below to find short, easy-to-follow videos that walk you through assembling and adjusting various Strider models, including the Rocking Bike, 12 Sport/Pro, 14x, and 20x.

Adjustment Tips:

  • Seat Height: The saddle height is the most critical adjustment. To find the right fit, your rider’s feet should be flat on the ground with a slight bend in their knees while seated. For their safety, make sure the saddle post is inserted far enough into the frame so the dashed "minimum insertion" line is not visible.
  • Handlebar Height: A good starting point is to set the handlebar height relative to the saddle. If the seat is at its lowest setting, set the handlebar to its lowest setting. Adjust the handlebar reach so your kiddo’s elbows have a slight bend while they are seated comfortably.

Maintenance & Care Tips:

  • Regular Cleaning: After a muddy ride, give the bike a quick scrub down. For a full wash, use a hose and mild soap, then be sure to dry it completely to prevent rust.
  • Check Tire Pressure: For bikes with pneumatic tires (like the Strider 14x and 20x), check the pressure monthly. The correct PSI is printed on the tire's sidewall.
  • Secure Parts: Periodically inspect and tighten all bolts and clamps — including the quick-release clamps on the saddle and handlebars — to ensure everything is secure.
  • Product Safety: All genuine Strider products are tested to the highest safety standards (CPSC and CE Mark), and we provide warnings about adult supervision and choking hazards to ensure a safe experience.

Essential Safety Tips for Every Ride

Always Wear a Helmet:

A properly fitted helmet is the most important piece of safety gear. Ensure it sits level on their head and is snug (only one finger should fit underneath their helmet strap).

Choose a Safe Riding Environment:

Opt for flat, open, low-traffic areas like driveways, paved trails, parks, or grassy yards. Avoid busy streets, steep hills, or uneven terrain until your little tyke’s skills are advanced.

Supervision is Key:

Always supervise young riders. Active supervision helps prevent accidents and allows you to offer immediate encouragement and guidance.

Check the Bike Regularly:

Before each ride, quickly check tire pressure (for pneumatic tires), ensure all clamps and bolts are tight, and verify that handlebars and saddle are secure.

Teach Basic Bike Rules:

Encourage your child to look where they want to go, avoid obstacles, and understand simple commands like "stop."

Start Slow:

Allow your child to learn at their own pace. There's no rush to glide or pedal; focus on building comfort and confidence first!

Keeping Your Rider Safe

With more than 4 million bikes sold worldwide, Team Strider is serious about riding safety. We believe practicing safe riding at an early age builds the foundation for safe riding practices that last a lifetime.

Helmets are more than just an accessory; they’re the cool sidekick to an epic adventure.

Read Helmet Safety Tips: Proper Fit is Key. Ensure your helmet fits snugly, covering the top and sides without tilting. The helmet should sit level for a secure and comfortable fit.

Buckle Up. No exceptions. Always fasten your chin strap securely. A properly buckled helmet stays in place during a fall, giving your rider maximum protection.

Crown Placement is Important. Position the helmet low on the forehead to protect the front of the head. Eyes should still be visible when looking upward.

Inspect Often! Give your kiddo’s helmet a once-over each ride. Check for any cracks, dents, or damage. Regular inspection ensures their helmet is ready for any adventure!

Be a Trailblazer. Show the world that legends wear helmets. Inspire others to practice safety when riding!

Our Commitment To You

We are committed to helping maintain your child’s health and safety. When you choose, you are assured of the highest quality and safety for your child.

Before any Strider bike or product is placed into the hands of a child, it is tested to the highest standards required by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission for children’s products and toys.

Further, if a Strider bike or product is intended for a country other than the United States, it is also tested to the European Union technical requirements to obtain a CE Mark.

Our goal is to get kids riding at the youngest age possible, so we do extra research and engineering to manufacture products that meet the stringent safety requirements of products given to children age 6 months and older.

Many balance bikes on the market today are only safe for kids 3 years and older. The standard for products age-graded for children “3+ years old” is not as stringent as the standard for products age-graded for children “6 months and up.”
